Abstract

The students who have good skill in reading will be easy to get information, knowledge, and idea form sources they read. But also far, the learners still find difficulties to improve their reading ability because they seldom do the reading activity at school and material for reading is not interesting for them There are three formulation of the problem in this research are: how high the student's motivation in reading? How high the students practicing in reading? And how make the students easier get information from the text? Can using bottom-up model increasing the students reading ability at the tenth grader of SMK 2 Ganesa Sekampung? Research goal is to see how high the students motivation in reading, to see how high the students practicing in reading and to see how make the students easier get information from the text. And to see can bottom-up model increasing the students reading ability at the tenth grader of SMK 2 Ganesa Sekampung. In this research used some method to collect data they are test, documentation and observation. Bottom-up model is used to know the level of the students reading ability. Those results are proved by higher score made by the students in the post-test. In the pre-test the average score in cycle I was 41.63 and the average post-test score in cycle I was 52.25, whereas the average score in post-test cycle II is 69.38. The increasing of post-test 1 to post-test 2 is 17.13 points. In every test was done we know that there is a rising level score. So, based on the result of analysis data above, it mean that bottom-up model can increase the students reading ability at the tenth grader of SMK 2 Ganesa Sekampung.
