Abstract
Generally, the students of SMA don't have motivation to read the English text and the students have low ability in understanding meaning of the text. Reading is very important for us, because reading is something crucial and indispensable for the students where the success of them depends on the greater part of their ability. If the students reading skill is poor, the students will fail in their study or at least they will have difficulty in making progress. This research was a classroom action research. The collecting data used: observation, test (pre-test and post-test), documentation, and field note. Classroom action research is collaborative research. The indicators of successes in this research are the students an active before they read the text and the students should be understand about the meaning of the text that they read. This research consists of, planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The finding research was the result score of pre-test = 53.79, in post-test I = 70.00. Then, the average score at post-test II = 83.10, and the progress is 13.10 point better than post-test I. By applying Pre-Questioning Technique in learning process could increase the students' enthusiasm. Based on the result of observation sheet, the students' activity in the implementation of cycle I and II was very active. It means that Pre-Questioning Technique could increase the students' activities. It could be seen on the result of observation sheet. The average the students' activity in cycle I was 46%, the increase to 71% in cycle II. The conclusion in this research was PreQuestioning Technique can increase the students' reading comprehension at the eleven grades of SMA N 1 Pasir Sakti Lampung Timur.
