Abstract
Local wisdom and traditional wisdom are two
Interrelated but distinct concepts. Traditional wisdom
generally refers to values, norms, and practices passed
down from generation to generation. However, not all
forms of traditional wisdom are necessarily local in terms
of place and community context. In contrast, local wisdom
emphasizes locality which is, the close relationship between
a form of wisdom and the geographical, social, and cultural
context in which it develops. Therefore, local wisdom is
not always inherited from the past; it may also emerge as
a result of a community’s interaction with its environment,
other societies, or external cultures (Ahimsa-Putra, 2019).
Local wisdom encompasses worldviews, values, beliefs,
and social practices that are considered wise and relevant
within the everyday life of a local community
