Abstract

The fundamental problem in this study lies in the challenge of managing productive zakat funds by KSPPS BMT Assyafi'iyah Berkah Nasional (BN) Kotagajah which is faced with the effectiveness of micro business development and the optimization of the distribution of zakat benefits in the midst of the dynamics of economic literacy of the people and the limitations of accompanying resources. This study aims to: first, to analyze the procedures for managing productive zakat funds in encouraging the development of micro businesses in Kotagajah District; second, to examine the effectiveness of the system of distribution and distribution of productive zakat by KSPPS BMT Assyafi'iyah BN; Third, identify supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of productive zakat for the empowerment of micro businesses.

The research method used is qualitative-descriptive with a field study approach, which combines data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, documentation, and triangulation analysis to test the validity of the data, while the data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and iterative conclusion drawn.

The results of the study show that the collection of zakat funds through multi-channel, mustahiq-based distribution, as well as field verification and accountable grant administration, have encouraged the increase of mustahiq economic independence, reflected in the growth of business assets, improvement of living standards, and the transformation of mustahiq to muzakki. However, the system and program effectiveness are still faced with major obstacles in the form of lack of professional assistance and low financial literacy, but they are overcome through sustainable management innovations, digitalization monitoring, and intensive education. Recommendations for further research are directed at strengthening the monitoring system, expanding mentoring, as well as longitudinal and comparative studies to identify best practices for optimizing the implementation of productive zakat in a more in-depth and sustainable manner in empowering sharia-based micro-economies.
