Abstract

Grammar is basic rules that has big influence on other skill english, one of them is the indirect speech, with good grammar, it can develop other skills in learning skills in indirect speech. There are kinds of erros in changing pronoun, changing adverb of time, changing tenses,and use of punctuation. The data collection method were documentation and interview. The collected data were analyzed , what kinds of students in using indirect speech performance.

The process of researching the writer gave question about indirect speech. After that the writer analyzed and found many kinds of grammartical error and found the frequency error in change of tense was 31%, change of of pronoun was 26%, change adverb of time 24%,the use of punctuation 19%. The research was conducted toward the forty one students of nature class MA Darul A'mal Metro.

The result of study shows the following : firstly the students make many errors in analyzed the grammatical error in using indirect speech. The highest percentage was error in change tense, it was 31 % and the second was the students fell difficult to develop their idea to make good indirect speech.
