Abstract

This study is motivated by the diverse and complex family issues in Kota Metro, where family resilience faces serious challenges. The poverty rate, which reached 7.87% from 2020 to 2024, indicates that many families still struggle to meet basic needs such as food, education, and health. The high divorce rate during 2020–2024, totaling 2,984 cases, also reflects significant problems in family functioning and spousal relationships in Kota Metro.

The research questions of this study are: 1) How do the Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama organizations in Kota Metro perceive the concept of family resilience? 2) How do the Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama organizations in Kota Metro contribute to building family resilience in the city?

This study specifically aims to explore two main aspects: 1) To understand the perception of Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama organizations regarding the concept of family resilience, and 2) To examine the efforts of Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama organizations in building family resilience in Kota Metro. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive qualitative design. Data were collected using interviews and documentation, applying the snowball sampling technique. The findings were presented descriptively and analyzed using inductive reasoning.

The results show that the Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama organizations in Kota Metro play an active role in implementing programs that directly address various aspects of family resilience, including physical health, spirituality, economy, social life, education, and legal-political awareness. Their programs focus on empowerment, education, and facilitation for families in Kota Metro. Through these roles, Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama actively support families in facing challenges, improving family quality, and fostering strong and prosperous family resilience in accordance with the objectives of Kota Metro Regional Regulation Number 20 of 2016 concerning Family Resilience.
