Abstract
The deciding of technique in teaching will highly influence to the student's success in learning English. The appropriate technique used by the teacher can help the student's difficulties in learning English especially in writing ability. Many students consider that writing is difficult.
Besides, the students have to master vocabularies and grammar, they have to be creative to express their idea in making the written form. Therefore, jigsaw technique is one of suitable techniques can help the student's difficulties in writing ability.Jigsaw technique is one of types cooperative learning which can be used by all subject. Because the jigsaw technique give opportunity to help students to express their idea, feeling and emotion and Jigsaw technique will make students more creative, active and responsibility in learning.
The purpose of this research was to know is the jigsaw technique is able to increase the students' writing ability or not. While the subject ofresearch were thiry students at X AP east lampung. This reserach was classroom action research and will be done in two cycles. Each cycle will be done in three meeting. Furthermore this research will be done four steps namely; planning, acting ,observing and reflecting. Here, the writer had implemented the jigsaw technique as a way to increase the students writing ability the instruments used in these research were observation, test and documentation.
In order to• know the students' descriptive paragraph writing ability, the result of each test was analyzed, From the data in cycle I, it was gained that the average score of pre-test was 47,76 and post-test I was 67,63. Based on data in cycle I, it had not fulfli led the target yet. So the writer did the cycle II. From the cycle II was gained that the average score of test was post test was 73,83.
Based on the result, it can be concluded that' descriptive paragraph writing has increased by using the jigsaw technique. This implies that the jigsaw technique is appropriate in teaching ability.
