Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the re-issue of the relationship between Islam and the state in the perspective of political Islam in Indonesia. The study was motivated by a desire to scrutinize the development and tidal relationship between Islam and the state is very dynamic colored political map of democracy in Indonesia with a strong Islamic tradition. This discussion concludes that Understanding of the relationship of religion and the country with the approach of political Islam is not intended to establish a State religion or Islamic State of Indonesia, but more on filling the spaces of religion is functionally in order the life of society, nation and State. The relationship of Islam and the country can be integrated in a functional relationship that envisioned the notability. Good integralistics relations, symbiosis and sekularistik, each must be seen as a complementary form. Facing the development of modernity, Islam and the state should be articulated as an effort to constantly adjust to the development of society in its various aspects,such as economic globalization and political world, science and technology, the development issues of democracy, gender, human rights, pluralism, both nationally and internationally.
