Abstract

Writing is one of language skills that should be mastered by the students after following a set of English instruction in school. Writing is one of skills which are important but the students assumed that writing is most difficult activity in learning language. To promote positive attitude toward writing, the teacher must be able to choose affective and interest technique that match the students' level.

The objective of the study is to find out significant increasing ability in writing recount text by using graphic organizer technique. This research was conducted toward 32 students of Junior High School number 10 Metro Pusat, Lampung. The subject of this research is VIII D. This research is classroom action research. It was conducted in two cycles, in cycle 1 was done in three meetings and cycle 2 was done in two mectings. In this research, the students were given pre-test and post-test afler treatment.

In this research, the students attended pre-test before having treatment and they should do the post-test of cycle 1 and cycle 2. From the analysis in pre-test and post-test of cycle 1, it showed increase from the students' result score. It is proved from their score 59 in pre-test become 64 in post-test 1. In the first cycle, the researcher found the students' problem in grammar and using language features. In the second cyele. most of students had improved their writing ability. It was proved from their result score from post-test 1 with score 64 become 74 in posttest 2. Furthermore. based on the result score from pre-test until post-test 2. it can conclude that Graphic Organizer technique can increase the students writing recount text ability at the eighth graders of Junior High School number 10 Metro.
