Abstract
Writing is an activity of a writer that give an information to the readers in written form. The primary purpose of writing to the writer is to give information; by expressing him/herself, though, feeling and experience to let it known by others. A good writer's work makes his/her written material is understood by the readers. Theoretically, there are many factors that make the students success in writing, such as; psycholinguistic. Psycholinguistic includes morphology, phonology, syntax, and semantic. Besides that, morphology learns about words well. To create a good written, the students should choose the right words based on the context in their writing. The objective of this research is to know what extend a positive and significant correlation between morphology performance and writing performance in English education study program of STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro. Furthermore, the researcher describes the correlation between morphology performance and writing performance.
This research was aimed to find out whether there is a positive and significant correlation between morphology performance and writing performance. This research is quantitative in correlation form. This research used test and documentation to collect the data. Furthermore, this research was. conducted at the fifth semester of English Education Study Program of STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro. The totals of population were 152 and the subjects of this research were 51 students as a sample. The researcher used proposional sampling technique. To pursue the goal, the researcher used product moment formula, in this case the researcher used SPSS (statistical package for social science) version 10 to prove whether hypothesis is accepted or rejected.
From the result of the research analysis, it can be inferred that observed 0.336. Then, to know whether the Tobserved was significant or not, it was needed to be tested using significant test. The result of significant analysis of fobserved 0.336. Furthermore, the critical value of 5% was found Frable = 0.279. The result showed that the coefficient analysis of observed 0.336 was greater than Frable 0.279. It meant that robserved 0.336 was significant. So it could be inferred that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It meant that there is any positive and significant correlation between morphology performance and writing performance in English Education Study Program of STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro in academic year of 2012/2013.
