Abstract
Reading is the process of understanding the written or printed text. Tt can be said that reading always comes along with comprehension. In other words, no reading occurs without comprehension. The way the students use their reading skills in teaching and learning process will significantly determine how they can achieve the objectives. It implies that if the students have good reading skills, they will be able to answer the reading test items and understand English texts well. Reading is about looking for information of the text. Reading is not easy to be learned because reading needs reading skill. Many problem that faced by readers when they want to achieve a purpose of reading. Those problem are about reading habit, reading technique, eyes work, motivation, and reading interest. The students should learn reading effectively in order they can find the information according to the text. But sometimes, the students feel lazy and bored when they must read a text.
The objective of this research is to know whether the using of questioning technique increases students' reading comprehension achievement. In this research, the researcher used data collecting method they are test item and documentation.
After the data had been analyzed, the result shows both in post test ! and post test 2. It shows that average score is 52.29 for pre-test, the average score for post test I is 55.86 and 70.43 for post test 2, while the average increasing from post-test 1 to post test 2 is 28.13 or 14.57% on each subject. It means that the result is increased from post-test I to post test 2.
In the pre-test, there are still many students who get low score. In the post-test, the result is better than pre-test. In the post-test 2 the students got better score than in post-test I. That is why the researcher concludes that the questioning technique can increase students' reading comprehension achievement.
